Joan Barbara Leviton died on September 18, 2018, in Phoenix, Arizona after a short illness. She was 85 years old. Joan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 14, 1933. She married Leo Henry Leviton in 1954. After her children were grown she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Judaic Studies from Gratz College. She was deeply committed to her family and community and was active in Amit Women, Cub Scout, Girl Scouts and Temple Ner Tamid. She was the owner of Leo Leviton Company in North Syracuse.
Survived by her sons, Kartar Singh Khalsa, Robert Jay Leviton, her daughter, Sat Kaur Khalsa, grandchildren Leah, Benjamin, Joel Amrit, Padmani, Harijot and Guruamrit, and great-grandchildren Amrita, Sita, Gabe, Eleanor, Emilia, and Leonardo.
She will be missed as a kind and gentle spirit who lived with joy and generosity.
Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 to Noon on Sunday at the chapel immediately prior to the service. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery.
