I. Gerald Pliskin, 80, of Syracuse and West Palm Beach, Fla., died Wednesday in a West Palm Beach hospital. An attorney in Syracuse for over 50 years, Mr. Pliskin was a graduate of Syracuse University and a 1930 graduate of Albany Law School. Mr. Pliskin was active in Jewish affairs. He was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun and was the longest serving president, from 1946 to 1956, of the Jewish Home of Central New York. Mr. Pliskin was a member of the board of directors of LaFayette Country Club and was a member and past master of Philo Mt. Sinai Masonic Lodge. He was active in the Republican party in the city of Syracuse for a number of years. Mr. Pliskin was an avid fisherman and outdoor sportsman. During his student days at Syracuse University, he was a member of the varsity tennis, basketball and baseball teams and competed on a national champion tennis team at that time. Mr. Pliskin was also a single and doubles tennis champion for Central New York. He was a former president of the Onondaga Golf Association and a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association.
Surviving are his wife, Sally; two daughters, Barbara Windheim of Fayetteville and Patricia Schlager of Springfield, N.J.; a sister, Ida Mesner of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery .
Calling hours are 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday evening at the family residence, 303 Crawford Ave.
