Doris (Albert) Shapero
Doris Albert Shapero, 85, died Monday at Loretto. Doris was born in Syracuse in 1929, to Harry and Beatrice Albert. She and her husband, Ed of blessed memory made Syracuse their home, and raised their family here. They had spent winters in Florida for the past 20 years. They worked together for many years in their family business Dor-Ed Sales. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurn. Doris loved to bake, play Mah Jong, garden, and walk, but most of all she loved being with her family and visiting with friends. Her family includes her children, Rick (Gail) Shapero, Karen Shapero (Matt) Jones, Larry (Linda) Shapero, and Laurie Shapero; her grandchildren, Kevin, Missy, Michelle, Reuben, Jared, Danielle, Zachary, Evan, and Elana; her great-grandchildren, Jeavonnah, and Brea; her brother, Harvey (Fran) Albert, and her sister-in-law, Carole (Sid) Hoffman. Funeral services will be at noon, Thursday, September 18 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service on Thursday, from 11 a.m. to noon at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Shiva will be observed Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4, and Saturday from 7:30 to 9 p.m., at Doris home. Contributions in her memory may be made to Temple Adath Yeshurun, or The JCC to benefit summer youth programs.
