Sol Blumin, 85, of 405 Sycamore Terrace, DeWitt, died Monday at his home. Mr. Blumin was a life resident of the Syracuse area. He retired in 1970 after 43 years as owner and operator of Service Lube Co. on East Fayette Street. Mr. Blumin was later employed with Tonys Shell Station in DeWitt. Mr. Blumin was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, its Mens Club, Philo-Mount Sinai Lodge, F and AM, the Jewish Community Center and the Central New York Retail Gasoline Dealers Association. He attended Central High School, where he played baseball and basketball, and also played basketball in YMHA league. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mildred; a son, Michael of Fayetteville; two daughters, Joanne Blumin of Great Neck and Marlene F. Blumin of Manlius; two sisters, Rose Hart and Arlene Cohn, both of Syracuse; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, Rabbi Charles S. Sherman and Cantor Harold Lerner officiating. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery.
