Mildred E. Blumin, 87, of 405 Sycamore Terrace, DeWitt, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Blumin was a life resident of Syracuse. She was a 1928 graduate of Syracuse Normal School. Mrs. Blumin taught second grade and special education classes at Seymour, Percy Hughes, and Charles Andrews schools. Mrs. Blumin was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, where she taught Sunday school and was secretary of the education department. She was a life member of the Temple Sisterhood, serving 50 years as its financial secretary. Mrs. Blumin was a member and former president of Hadassah and a member of the Council of Jewish Women and Auxiliary of the Jewish Home of Central New York. She was also a volunteer for the Adult Day Care Center at the Jewish Home. Her husband, Sol, died in 1991. They were married 56 years. Surviving are a son, Michael of Fayetteville; two daughters, Joanne Blumin of Great Neck and Marlene F. Blumin of Fayetteville; a brother, Lewis "Red" Engel of Syracuse; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Services are noon Friday at Temple Adath Yeshurun, with Rabbi Charles S. Sherman officiating. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery.
