Mrs. Henrietta Solomon, founder and first president of Hadassah, died Saturday [January 13, 1962]. She was the widow of Samuel D. Solomon, former Syracuse attorney. Born in Louisville, Ky., Jan. 8, 1888, Mrs. Solomon lived in Syracuse since her marriage in 1911. [A] life member of the Zionist Organization of America, she also was affiliated with the Syracuse Council of Jewish Women and the Onondaga County Council of Girl Scouts. Mrs. Solomon was a past president of the Upstate New York Region of Hadassah and a former member of the National Board of Hadassah. Formerly employed as homefinder in the Children\\'s Division of Onondaga County Welfare Department, she later did similar work for the Child and Family Service. A graduate of Louisville Normal School, Mrs. Solomon also studied at Syracuse University, the University of Buffalo School of Social Work and the New York School of Social Work. Surviving are four daughters, Minnie G., Hilda J., and Mrs. Molly S. Levy, all of Syracuse, and Mrs. Ruth Bennet of Cardiff, Calif.; a son, David A. of Syracuse, and several grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the Birnbaum Funeral Home at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Friends may call at the family residence from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Contributions may be made to the Jewish National Fund.
