Eleanor Carmen, 74, of 418 Crawford Ave. died Thursday at home. She was born in New York City and lived in Syracuse for 50 years. Mrs. Carmen attended Brooklyn College and University College in Syracuse. She worked in the resource center at Elden Elementary School in Baldwinsville for 10 years. She also worked in the study skills center at Onondaga Community College, tutoring people with learning disabilities for 14 years. Mrs. Carmen was a member of Temple Society of Concord, the American Civil Liberties Union, the New York State Teachers Association and the National Organization for Women. Her husband, Morton, died in 1990. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey of Manlius and Terry of Syracuse; a daughter, Rona DAniello of Kenmore; and five grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery.
