June 28, 2006 Arlene Frank Liberman, 88, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at Crouse Hospital. She was a devoted and loving person to her family and friends. Mrs. Liberman was a life resident of Syracuse and the daughter of the late Henry and Sadye Frank. She attended the University of Michigan, graduated from Syracuse University, and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. After college and during World War II, Arlene worked as a comparison shopper and a secretary. Mrs. Liberman was a member of Temple Society of Concord and their sisterhood, Cavalry Club, and Lafayette Country Club. She spent many hours volunteering at Crouse Hospital, teaching brail, and working for the Special Olympics. Arlene was an avid bridge player, played the piano "by ear", was a tournament golf player, and loved to read novels especially those involving the medical field. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Mike Liberman. Survived by her son, Arthur (Kathleen) Liberman; daughter, Patricia Kalish; sister, Roberta Katzman; brother-in-law, Benjamin Doroff; sister-in-law, Bernice Liberman; longtime friend, Caryl Kalet; grandchildren, Erica and Gregory Liberman, Jennifer (Les) Lasky, Julie (Andrew) Fruit, Jill (Scott) Harris, great-grandchildren, Michael and Sam Fruit, Betsy and Kate Harris and Jordan Lasky. Friends may call on Monday, July 3, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
