Reeva H. Fineberg, who received the Woman of the Year award from the Jewish Home of Central New York at the organization\'s annual meeting in June, died today at her home after a short illness. She was 76 years old and lived at 770 James St.
Mrs. Fineberg was born in Emporium, Pa. and has lived in Syracuse 60 years. She came to the city to attend Syracuse University where she met her husband, Manuel, an attorney.
Mrs. Fineberg was active in Jewish affairs. She was a member of Temple Society of Concord, its Sisterhood and was a former member of its board of directors. She was a member and past president of the Jewish Home of Central New York. Mrs. Fineberg was one of the originators of the Auxiliary to the Jewish Home\'s gala ball which for more than 20 years has raised funds to benefit the home. She was also a member of the Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah.
Mrs. Fineberg was an avid golfer. A member of LaFayette Country Club, she played in the Nine Hole Women\'s League and was a former Grandmother\'s Champion.
Mrs. Fineberg was also active in bridge circles, playing regularly at the Duplicate Bridge Club, LaFayette Country Club and the Corinthian club where she was a member.
Mrs. Fineberg served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 56 years are a son, Lewis of DeWitt, also an attorney; a brother, Marvin Harris of Emporium; three grandchildren, Jami, Eric and Alison Fineberg, all of DeWitt; and a great-granddaughter, Lani Fineberg of DeWitt.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Society of Concord, Rabbi Theodore S. Levy officiating. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery .
Calling hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the temple, 910 Madison St. After the funeral friends may call at their convenience at the family residence, 770 James St., Apt. 510.
