Sidney Israel Rothschild, 87, a native of Syracuse, died Sunday in Boynton Beach. Born April 18, 1925, to the late Lillian and Jacob Rothschild. He was a graduate of Nottingham High School and Syracuse University. Sidney served in the U.S. Army in Europe in WWII. He was employed for 45 years at Roth Brothers Smelting, serving as treasurer and office manager. Sidney was an active member of Temple Adath Yeshurun; a treasurer of the Mens Club at the Temple; and served on the boards of the Jewish Community Center, Jewish Family Service and Camp Frenle. He was a member of Philo-Mt. Sinai Masonic Lodge. Sidney was a warm and generous soul with a wonderful sense of humor and a true mensch who will be sorely missed. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Menter and his son, Joel Seth Rothschild. He is survived by Ellen, his loving wife of 61 years; their children, Mark, Tina and Phil (Nancy); and their grandchildren, Seth, Ethan, Ariana, Aidan, Jeremy and Adam. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at Philip and Nancys home Thursday evening, Friday until 4 p.m., Saturday evening, and Sunday. Contributions in Sidneys memory may be made to Temple Adath Yeshurun.
