Norma Rose Leventhal, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at Loretto Nursing Home. A Lifetime resident of Syracuse, Norma was employed by the Simms Factory in the 60s and 70s and Valley\'s Steak House on Erie Blvd. East. During her later years in life she was active in the Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans Onondaga Post 31. She also spent retirement years at the Oneida Pines Campgrounds. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul (Pinky), in 1964; and sister, Sondra Patruno, in 1997. She is survived by a sister, Olga Collier of Chiefland, FL; and nieces, Fran (Pete) Madsen, also of Chiefland, Barbara Koval of Rolla, MO, and Irene Bowman of Florida; close relatives: Jerry Patruno of Syracuse, Michael (Shirley) Orlins of Chattanooga, Peter (Janis) Orlins of Atlanta; nieces and nephews, Denise (Chuck) Hendee, Sue (Lou) Petrilli, David (Jen) Patruno, Shari (John) Folkerts, Jan Hosner, and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She referred to all of them as her children and grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at the Sisskind Funeral Chapel, 3175 E. Genesee St. with burial in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Funeral Chapel. Contributions may be made to Jewish War Veterans, 5655 Thompson Rd., DeWitt, NY 13214.
