Dr. David A. Harrison, a specialist in thoracic medicine, died Monday at the Extended Care Facility of Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. He was 92 years old.
Dr. Harrison was born in Chicago, Ill., and attended Syracuse schools. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1919 and from Syracuse University College of Medicine in 1921.
He served with the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and was stationed in France following the invasion of Normandy.
After the war, Dr. Harrison resumed his duties as director of medical services at Broadacres Sanatorium in Utica, a treatment center for tuberculosis. In 1955, he established a private practice in Utica for the treatment of pulmonary disorders. Following his retirement, he lived in Syracuse until 1984 with his wife, the late Libbie Shapero Harrison.
Dr. Harrison was a past member of the Oneida County Medical Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the Syracuse Medical Alumni Association, American Medical Association, and Phi Delta Epsilon medical fraternity. The Alumni Association of Syracuse University honored him with a Golden Anniversary Certificate.
Dr. Harrison was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, Syracuse.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Seymour L. Morris of Gloversville and Mrs. Eli Koff of Denver, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Knesseth Israel Synagogue in Gloversville. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Frumah Packard Cemetery , Syracuse.
