Florence Weinstein Carmen, 93, of Syracuse, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Menorah Park. She taught adult basic education at Washington Irving School for 17 years. Florence was a graduate of Wm. Nottingham High School and Syracuse University. She was a former member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, ACLU and NOW. Survived by a son, Jonathan (Jodi); brother, Howard Weinstein; and a grandson, Adam-Matthew Carmen. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, 1909 E. Fayette Street. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service, at the chapel. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Foundation at Menorah Park.
